Mission and objectives

Mission - Objectives and results

We focus with our projects on:

To support disadvantaged and underprivileged families in rural areas who want to improve their living conditions by developing themselves, based on self-reliance and sustainability. Self-reliance makes people economically independent.

What do we want to achieve?

Health

By providing people with clean drinking water, water is continuously available both for sanitation and for a “community-garden project. Thanks to the availability of water in combination with sanitation and the growing of fruits & vegetables, people will also become aware of the need for hygiene. There will also be a significant decrease in water-related diseases.

Food security

The availability of water during prolonged dry periods will ensure that there will be enough healthy food available throughout the year.

Food security addresses hunger, malnutrition and
infant mortality!

Employment

For self-reliance and sustainability, our projects aim to
also create employment and a basic income by selling the surplus
of fruits & vegetables to be sold.

Our projects will significantly improve both health, economic growth and social welfare.

Jappaleh family

Both in Europe and in Africa we work with volunteers, this keeps our operating costs to an absolute minimum. This does not mean that these people are not experienced. The Jappaleh family in Africa consists of a permanent core of eleven members and includes a very experienced project manager and project supervisor (FAO-UN), and a geohydrologist. So we have the knowledge and years of experience with these projects. They know the situations and circumstances of the requesting villages like no other. If necessary, we also call on experts from PUM and/or BSC.

Our foundation also acts as a knowledge channel. The team further includes experts in environmental management, geosciences and sustainability, they advise on best practices to achieve maximum impact.

Our grassroots approach ensures that the most vulnerable get a chance. Applications are always made by the community itself. In joint consultation we see what, where can be realized, with respect for the culture and traditional way of living and working and of course depending on the available financial resources.

The requesting party is and remains the owner of the project. Our task is to support these motivated people in carrying out their wishes. Of importance again and again are: Empowerment, Capacity building and Ownership (ECO-thought).

Worldwide, there are 1.5 billion people without drinking water. If every citizen from the most prosperous countries helps one of these fellow citizens to get water, the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations can be reached.

Our projects aim to contribute to the achievement of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Vlaams Partnerschap Water voor Ontwikkeling

We also endorsed the objective of the Flemish Water for Development Partnership to help reduce by half the number of people without access to clean water.

We are working towards these goals, have you already decided to help us?
